The Olympus OmniScan X3 64-Channel Phased Array Flaw Detector is specifically designed to deliver enhanced power and performance to the manufacturer’s phased-array ultrasonic testing product line. In particular, this 64-channel instrument has the pulser capacity to drive phased-array probes with a larger number of elements, thereby increasing data acquisition speed for Total Focusing Method (TFM) imaging.

Furthermore, the compact unit processes TFM images up to four times faster than its predecessor. As a result, inspectors can remain on-site longer and perform more extensive scanning jobs without needing to transfer data, thanks to the 1 TB of onboard storage.

Moreover, the instrument is built to facilitate complex and thick part or weld applications. Its full 64-element aperture phased-array and 128-element aperture TFM capabilities allow users to optimize advanced Dual Linear Array and Dual Matrix Array probes for improved testing precision.

• Take advantage of the full potential of 64-element phased array probes with the OmniScan X3 64 flaw detector, enabling improved resolution at the focal point.
• For instance, an S-scan acquired using a 32-channel OmniScan X3 unit with a 64-element probe (5L64-A32 model) offers high-quality imaging. However, the resolution is limited because only the middle 32 elements could be used for the focal law.
• On the other hand, by using a full 64-element aperture (5L64-A32 probe), the OmniScan X3 64 flaw detector provides significantly better PA resolution at the focal point. This makes it easier to distinguish closely spaced or clustered indications, improving detection capabilities.

You can achieve up to four times faster Total Focusing Method (TFM) acquisition speeds with the OmniScan X3 64 flaw detector when using a 64-element probe. In comparison to models with 32 pulsers, this instrument offers a substantial improvement in efficiency due to its larger aperture capability, allowing for faster and more accurate testing.
